KAMPALA- More fire is reported to have started inside Makerere University main building and burnt the other side of the structure which was earlier not burnt.
The Kampala Metroplitan Deputy Police Spokesperson Luke Owoyesigire told our reporter that shortly after the Police Fire and Rescue Brigade put out the flame, the fire started again.
The new wave of the fire is reported to have started from the side that houses the Vice Chancellor’s offices, the Council offices and Accounts Offices.
Owoyesigire said that the Police have gained ground into investigations of the fire after many individuals asked for a report on the cause of the fire.
The new wave of the fire started a few hours after the Minister of Education and Sports Hon Janet Kataha Museveni visited the University and held a meeting with University leaders led by the Vice Chancellor Prof Banarbas Nawangwe.
Prof. Banarbas Nawangwe told journalists said that the first fire burnt the premises and affected many vital records that they will never retrieve again.
By the time of writing this story today morning, the Police had managed to put out the new fire but it had already destroyed and consumed a lot of property.
