RUKUNGIRI- The Rukungiri district security committee chaired by the Resident District commissioner Dan Kaguta has already shown readiness to implement all the directives by the president that are intended to curtail the spread of Coranvirus.
In an emergency meeting held at the district headquarters on Friday March 20th 2020, the security committee resolved to immediately close all market places save for Rukungiri central market.
Other measures adopted by the committee include introduction of hand washing facilities at every business premises, immediate burying of dead persons in order to do away with huge crowds at the burial functions.
They also directed the immediate introduction of disinfecting all taxis and buses in the bus park before takeoff and hand washing of passengers before boarding.
Mr. Kaguta noted that the district is at a high risk of contracting coronavirus because it borders with countries that have already registered cases. He therefore implored all the district security agencies to implement the guidelines in order to safeguard the country from this pandemic.
“We have with immediate effect directed different measures to help Ugandans curtail the scourge which threatening the lives of Ugandans” Mr. Kaguta noted.
Rukungiri district deputy health officer Maldonious Tumwebingye challenged all local leaders and stakeholders to sensitize people about corona virus and report immediately any suspected case to the responsible authorities for immediate response.The directives were announced by the Uganda’s president Yoweri Kaguta Museveni on Wednesday March 18th 2020 as he addressed Ugandans on some measures to curtail the COVI-19 scourge.
