JINJA- Residents of Buwenge Town Ciuncil in Jinja district woke up to shock yesterday Friday April 3rd 2020, as one of their area residents was discovered dead in a suicide act.

Police in Buwenge identified the deceased as Peter Kiirya a teacher at St. Marys College Buwenge who was found hanging in his room. 

Kiirya was a Fine Art teacher at St. Marys College Buwenge and according to one of his neighbors who identified himself as John Dikusoka, the cause of the Kiirya’s death might have originated from lack of food.

However according the Director of Studies (D.O.S) at St. Mary’s College Buwenge, James Otim, the deceased was one of the pioneer teachers of the school when he had spent the over 15 years. 

“From the day the President directed school going children to return to their homes, Kiirya has always struggled to get what to eat because previously he would survive on school meals and salary” Dikusoka narrated how his neighbor was living a misery life. 

Otim couldn’t accept or rule out hunger out of Kiirya’s death adding that they have been home eversince President Museveni directed the closure of schools and other social gatherings in a bid to stem the spread of Coronovirus on Wednesday March 18th 2020.

The Body was later taken to Buwenge healthy centre IV for postmortem. Uganda currently has 48 confirmed cases of coronavirus.
